“Scotland’s T20 World Cup Squad Bolstered by Return of Key Players!”

Scotland has announced their 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, featuring the return of top-order batter Michael Jones and fast bowler Brad Wheal, both of whom last played in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. Although they are not part of the squad for the upcoming T20I tri-series in the Netherlands, they have been included in the T20 World Cup squad.

Richie Berrington will lead the squad, aiming to build on Scotland’s performances from 2022, notably their memorable victory over the West Indies.

Head coach Doug Watson expressed the importance of Jones and Wheal’s experience from previous T20 World Cups, emphasizing their crucial role within the group. He highlighted the squad’s continuity and expressed hope for an even higher level of performance in the upcoming tournament.

As part of their preparation, Scotland will participate in a tri-series with Netherlands and Ireland starting from May 18. Watson expressed his excitement about the upcoming challenges and emphasized the importance of competitive cricket in the team’s preparation process.

With Scotland placed in Group B of the T20 World Cup alongside England, Australia, Oman, and Namibia, the team sees this as a significant opportunity to shine on the global stage. Despite the availability of various franchise tournaments worldwide, the T20 World Cup remains the pinnacle for the players and the team.

Teams have until May 25 to make any changes to their squads, subject to approval from the ICC’s Event Technical Committee.

Scotland squad: Richie Berrington (c), Matthew Cross, Brad Currie, Chris Greaves, Oli Hairs, Jack Jarvis, Michael Jones, Michael Leask, Brandon McMullen, George Munsey, Safyaan Sharif, Chris Sole, Charlie Tear, Mark Watt, Brad Wheal.
