“Cricket Australia Drops Another Bombshell: Postpones Afghanistan Series Indefinitely!”

Cricket Australia has decided to postpone a men’s T20I series against Afghanistan after consulting with the Australian government. This postponement follows a previous delay of an ODI series against Afghanistan that was initially planned for March 2023.

The decision to postpone the series came after the Australian government provided advice regarding the deteriorating conditions for women and girls in Afghanistan over the past 12 months. Cricket Australia, taking this advice into consideration, opted to postpone the series against Afghanistan.

In a statement, Cricket Australia mentioned their ongoing commitment to supporting women and girls’ participation in cricket globally. They stated that they would continue to work closely with the Afghanistan Cricket Board and actively engage with the International Cricket Council to explore potential actions to facilitate the resumption of bilateral matches in the future.

The last encounter between Australia and Afghanistan took place during the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India, where Glenn Maxwell’s remarkable double-century led Australia to a memorable victory.

Both teams have not participated in international cricket outside of ICC events since August 2012.
