“Afghanistan Spinner’s Rankings Soar Ahead of T20 World Cup”

Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan made a formidable return from injury, showcasing his prowess with eight wickets against Ireland and subsequently re-entering the top 10 of the ICC Men’s T20I Bowler Rankings.

Rashid’s exceptional performance during the series propelled him four places up to the ninth position on the rankings. He emerged as the Player of the Series, playing a pivotal role in Afghanistan’s 2-1 victory over Ireland. Notably, this series marked Rashid’s comeback after sustaining a back injury during last year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

Having previously held the No.1 ranking for T20I bowlers, Rashid’s resurgence solidifies his reputation as one of the premier bowlers in the shortest format of the game. With the T20 World Cup in the USA and the Caribbean approaching in June, Rashid aims to maintain his standing among the top-ranked bowlers.

Among Rashid’s teammates, Naveen-ul-Haq also made strides in the rankings, climbing two places to 55th after his notable performance with three wickets against Ireland. Meanwhile, Irish bowlers Josh Little, Mark Adair, and Barry McCarthy saw improvements in their T20I bowler rankings following their contributions to the series.

In the T20I batter rankings, India’s Suryakumar Yadav continues to dominate the charts, while Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi ascended within the top 50 after his standout performance against Ireland.

Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh retains his position as the top-ranked T20I all-rounder, with Irish cricketer Gareth Delany making significant progress in this category.

Additionally, the latest ODI rankings for batters witnessed notable changes following Sri Lanka’s series against Bangladesh. Pathum Nissanka entered the top 10 at the eighth position, while Charith Asalanka improved to 14th place.

Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Towhid Hridoy also made gains in the ODI batter rankings. On the bowling front, Shoriful Islam was the standout performer, climbing 11 spots to 24th position after his commendable performance during the series.

Overall, these rankings reflect the recent performances of players across different formats, setting the stage for an exciting period of international cricket ahead.
