“Australia Calls Back Duo for White-Ball Tour of Bangladesh”

Australia has made some notable inclusions in their 15-player squad for the upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh, aiming to further prepare for this year’s T20 World Cup. The series, consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is, marks the first bilateral tour of Bangladesh for Australia’s women’s team and presents a valuable opportunity to acclimatize to the conditions ahead of the T20 World Cup scheduled in Bangladesh later this year.

Left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux makes a return to the squad after her recent stint in the national set-up during the one-off Test against South Africa. Fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck also earns a spot in the squad, poised to make her international comeback since her injury woes that sidelined her since the beginning of 2022.

Unfortunately, left-arm spinner Jess Jonassen and experienced all-rounder Heather Graham miss out on selection this time. However, selector Shawn Flegler emphasized that both players remain valued members of the group, with opportunities for their return to the international arena in the future.

Flegler highlighted the importance of the tour in providing vital exposure to the conditions and pitches expected during the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh. The balanced squad aims to offer multiple bowling options and is geared towards gaining valuable experience ahead of the prestigious tournament.

The series kicks off with three ODIs starting on March 21 in Dhaka as part of the ICC Women’s Championship, followed by the T20I matches.

Australia squad: Alyssa Healy (c), Darcie Brown, Ashleigh Gardner, Kim Garth, Grace Harris (T20s only), Alana King, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath (vc), Sophie Molineux, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Georgia Wareham, Tayla Vlaeminck
