“Bahrain and Kuwait Clinch Victories with Five Wickets Each: 2026 ICC U19 Men’s World Cup Kicks Off in Bangkok”

The ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup for 2026 kicked off today, just two weeks after Australia clinched the title in the 2024 edition held in South Africa.

In the Asia Division 2 Qualifier hosted in Bangkok, two matches took place: Bahrain versus Thailand at TCG and Kuwait against Malaysia at AIT. Both contests were fiercely competitive and low-scoring affairs, with Bahrain and Kuwait emerging victorious after successfully chasing down their respective targets.

Opting to field first at TCG, Bahrain’s decision paid off as they restricted Thailand’s batting lineup. Despite a solid start, Thailand lost wickets at regular intervals, with Bahrain’s bowlers maintaining pressure. Eventually, Thailand were bowled out for 150 runs in 34.3 overs. In response, Bahrain’s openers provided a steady start, laying the foundation for a successful chase. Despite a few hiccups, Bahrain reached their target of 151 runs with five wickets in hand in 38.2 overs.

Meanwhile, at AIT, Kuwait took control of their match against Malaysia right from the beginning by dismissing both Malaysian openers for ducks. Despite a valiant effort from Malaysia’s lower order, they were bowled out for 108 runs in 30 overs. In pursuit of the target, Kuwait faced some resistance but eventually secured victory by five wickets in 34.5 overs.

Tomorrow’s fixtures will feature Bhutan taking on Hong Kong at TCG and Oman facing Saudi Arabia at AIT.
