“Gardner Eager for Batting Resurgence: Targets Limited-Overs Form against India”

All-rounder Ashleigh Gardner is optimistic about rediscovering her batting form in the upcoming limited-overs series against India.

Despite being ranked No.2 in the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s ODI All-rounder Rankings, Gardner has struggled with the bat in 2023, managing just one half-century across ODIs and T20Is. Eager to return to form, she emphasized her quick recovery after bowling fifty overs in the Test in Mumbai last week, expressing readiness for the ODI series.

Although Gardner faced batting challenges in the Women’s Big Bash League, she attributed her recent lack of runs to decision-making rather than technical issues. Frustrated by the batting returns, she aims to clarify her decision-making and turn things around in the upcoming six limited-overs matches in India.

Despite batting struggles, Gardner exudes confidence with the ball, receiving strong support from skipper Alyssa Healy. She hopes the confidence built through her bowling performances will translate to her batting.

In preparation for the India series, Gardner emphasized the importance of clear game plans in a challenging environment like India. Focused on refining her decision-making, she looks forward to contributing both with the ball and the bat in the upcoming matches.
